Job Description:

The Director of Customer Solutions is an experienced commercial sales professional responsible for growing ATLAS Space Operations’ revenue through proactive customer engagement, new business development, and expansion of existing accounts. This role is focused on the commercial market segment and works in close coordination with the Senior Director of Customer Solutions, who provides day-to-day direction and mentorship. The Director is expected to bring established satellite industry knowledge and relationships to the role, enabling a shorter ramp to productivity and meaningful contribution to pipeline development from the outset. This is a high-visibility, customer-facing position at the forefront of ATLAS’s commercial growth.

Essential Duties:

Customer Engagement & Account Management

  • Serve as a primary point of contact for an assigned portfolio of commercial customer accounts, building strong, trusted relationships that support retention and growth.
  • Maintain a deep understanding of each customer’s mission profile, usage behavior, and strategic objectives, anticipating needs and engaging proactively rather than reactively.
  • Work closely in support of the Program Management team to ensure customers remain engaged and sold on the value of ATLAS’s offerings throughout the service lifecycle.
  • Participate in and lead customer sales calls, status meetings, and in-person engagements, accommodating client time zones and schedules as needed.

Business Development & Pipeline Growth

  • Proactively identify and pursue new commercial business opportunities — including cross-sell and upsell of additional ATLAS network services and Freedom platform capabilities — leveraging existing industry relationships and market knowledge to accelerate pipeline development and drive increased revenue.
  • Continuously monitor ATLAS site utilization to identify load balancing opportunities and offer customers the
value of contact volume on underutilized sites.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date opportunity records, contact information, and activity logs in the ATLAS CRM platform (Bigin), ensuring full pipeline visibility for the team.

Proposal & Solution Development

  • Interpret customer mission requirements, identify capability gaps, and scope where ATLAS products and
services can meet customer needs, collaborating with Software, Engineering, and Operations teams to develop tailored solutions.
  • Prepare and deliver professional written proposals, RFI responses, and ROMs that accurately address customer technical and commercial requirements.

Reporting & CRM

  • Provide regular reports to the Senior Director of Customer Solutions on pipeline status, account health, customer pursuits, and revenue forecasts.

Professional Development

  • Develop proficiency in the Freedom platform and ATLAS core network services, building the technical depth needed to engage customers credibly and identify expansion opportunities.
  • Stay current on satellite industry trends, emerging operators, and competitive dynamics through self-directed research and engagement with the broader industry.
  • Engage with mentorship and guidance provided by both the Senior Director of Customer Solutions and the VP of Customer Operations to support continued growth within the organization.

Required Qualifications:

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Aerospace, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 2–4 years of experience in commercial sales, business development, or account management, with at least a portion of that experience in the satellite communications, space, or defense industry.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and grow a portfolio of technical customer accounts in a fast-paced environment.
  • Existing knowledge of the satellite ground systems market, spacecraft operations, or related technical domains strongly preferred.
  • Established industry relationships that could accelerate new business development are a strong plus.

Technical Skills

  • Proficiency with CRM platforms (Bigin, Salesforce, or similar) required.
  • Familiarity with satellite operations, ground system software, or mission planning tools (STK, Grafana, or
    similar) preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Google Workspace required.

Citizenship
